The classic survey assignment. You choose a topic that you think will have a broad opinion, or strong opinions, or mild opinions: Favorite flavor of ice cream, student body president, favorite recording artist, favorite genre of literature, favorite genre of music, etc. You go around the school asking classmates these questions and record the results. When you are done you fill out a table, and make a graph like the following: (All numbers are made up)

I survey 50 classmates about their least liked foods and got these results

- Broccoli....................7
- Brussels Sprouts.....10
- Spinach...................20
- Mushrooms.............2
- Peas........................5
- Lima Beans...............6

Discuss the measures of central tendency (e.g. mean, mode, standard deviation) and what it indicates. I could make a prediction that the most unpopular food in the school would be Spinach, based on the results I found, since that was the most chosen answer in my survey. Then you could put these results in a pie chart, or a bar graph.

You will need to find different data and might choose a bar graph instead of a pie chart, but you should have the basics down.
