Chemistry Help!!! On bonds, like polar, ionic, nonpolar, covalent,etc. Lots of fun;) please help:)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1) If a crystalline substance XCl conducts electricity when dissolved in water, what type of bond is present in XCL?

    a) ionic bond, b) hydrogen bond, or c) non-polar bond....i think its ionic.

 

2) If the difference in electronegativity between atoms of different nonmetals is small, the atoms of the two non-metals will most likely:

    a) form polar covalent bond, b) hydrogen bond, c) ionic bond, or d) non polar covalent bond....i think its a

3) Which of these are conductors of electricity? (more than one is rite, look at answer choices for more details:)

       A) Ionic substances

       B) Metals

       C) polar covalent compounds

       D) non polar covalent compounds

1-a, b, and c,

2-all of the above

3-a, b and d

4-a and b only

Answer: - a) ionic bond

yes you are right. Inoic compound when dissolve or in solution has the capacity to conduct electricity

 

2) If the difference in electronegativity between atoms of different nonmetals is small, the atoms of the two non-metals will most likely:

    a) form polar covalent bond, b) hydrogen bond, c) ionic bond, or d) non polar covalent bond....i think its a

 

Answer: d) non- polar covalent bond  {that is option 1}

for a polar covalent bond, there must be a  high difference in electronegativity so that there will be a net dipole moment.

3) Which of these are conductors of electricity? (more than one is rite, look at answer choices for more details:)

       A) Ionic substances

       B) Metals

       C) polar covalent compounds

       D) non polar covalent compounds

Answer:- a,b and c are the corrects answer.

metal can conduct electricity (it is one of its basic property)

Ionic substance can conduct too as when dissolve it forms ions which conducts

Even polar covalent bond due to the presence of net dipole momnet it can conduct electricity

1A) Ionic bond (Option A)

Ionic compound are crystalline solid and conduct electricity they will have ionic bond formed between metals and non-metals.

2A) Non polar covalent bond (Option d)

Covalent Bond is formed between non metals and...

If the electronegativity difference is between 0.0 to 0.4 it will form non polar covalent bond

If the electronegativity difference is between 0.4 to1.7 it will form polar covalent bond

If the electronegativity difference is >1.7 it will form ionic bond

Since the bond is formed between non metals and the difference of electronegativity is very small it is non polar covalent bond.

3A) Option 1 is correct answer.

Metals can conduct electricity since they have free electrons.

Ionic Substance can conduct electricity since they form ions.

Polar covalent compound they cannot conduct electricity but when mixed with salt they conduct electricity.

Non polar covalent compounds cannot conduct electricity.
