In Chapter 4, Gene has two false epiphanies before the final true epiphany. Name all three.

An epiphany is a sudden realization, a revelation in which the truth or the meaning of something becomes clear.

1) "I found it. I found a single sustaining thought. The thought was, You and Phineas are even already. You are even in enmity. You are both coldly driving ahead for yourselves alone. . . . I felt better. Yes, I sensed it like the sweat of relief when nausea passes away; I felt better. We were even after all, even in enmity. The deadly rivalry was on both sides after all."

"Now I knew that there was [...] any rivalry [...] I was not the same quality as he. I couldn't stand this."

The first quote shows that Phineas realizes that Finny is trying to steer him off course by engaging him in dilatory activies so that he cannot excel academically. However, after Gene "accidently" pushes Finny the tree (above the Devon River), Gene realizes that his thinking was infact a misunderstanding (which is supported by the second quote). Later in the book, more light is shed to this understanding when Finny wants Gene to play sports "for him." As a matter of fact, Finny even spends the time and effort to train Gene for the Olympics of 1944.

In chapter four, Gene might suspect that Finny is trying to diverge him from his academic studies because he, Finny, takes him to the beach (right before his Trig test) and engages him in Blitzball (right after his Trig test, which he happened to flunk because he did not have time to study for due to all the activities Finny tried to envolve him in).

There's one of the epiphanies. I am not being paid for this. I may or may not get back to you on the other two epiphanies. I do not have much time.
