The set of equations 2x + y = 3 and x - y = 1 has to be solved.

x - y = 1

=> x = 1 + y

Substitute this in the other equation 2*x + y = 3

=> 2*(1 + y) + y = 3

=> 2 + 2y + y = 3

=> 3y = 3 - 2

=> y = 1/3

x = 1 + 1/3 = 4/3

The solution of the set of simultaneous equations is (4/3, 1/3)
