Idek is a Kapo. That means his is also a prisoner but he has been put in charge of a other prisoners. Idek is in charge of everyone who works in the electrical warehouse, including Elieazar. He is a violent man who has angry fits and all of the prisoners try to stay away from him. He's also extremely selfish. One day he marches all the prisoners to the warehouse so he can be with a woman. Young Elieazar discovers Idek's secret and is severely whipped and warned never to reveal what he saw.
