A thesis statement is a summary of the information you are going to present in more detail in the body of your paper. After you have gathered your information about the Kennedy Center, review it and decide how you want to approach telling about the venue and its history. That decision should shape your thesis statement.
You could start your history by tracing the idea of a national performance center back to its origin in the 1930s. Various political and economic forces delayed actual construction, but in 1958 the National Cultural Center Act was signed by Pres. Eisenhower and fundraising efforts began. Renamed after Pres. Kennedy was assassinated, the Center opened in 1971 with a series of events featuring the various venues within the complex.
The range of events hosted at the Kennedy Center includes and recognizes all the performing arts. International artists as well as American entertainers have performed on its stages.
