Dominant and recessive genes describe which trait will show when genes for two different traits in the same area are present. An example would be widow's peak hair. Widow's peak is where your hair naturally comes to a point at the top of the brow, instead of being straight across. Widow's peak is a dominant trait, that means that an individual with widow's peak, could carry the gene for the recessive trait, and could have an offspring without widow's peak if the spouse is also hybrid, or doesn't have widow's peak.
