PEMDAS (please excuse my dear aunt Sally) P is for parenthesis, so you will start there first. It is easier to change the 1/2 to a decimal, which =.5  Next you will multiply the 45 by 1/2, which =  .5 and you should get 22.5.

Next, you will multiply -40 by 22.5. Anytime a number is right next to the parenthesis -40(22.5) it means to multiply. Once you multiply, you should get -900. The number will stay negative, because you are multiplying it by a positive number.

The answer is -900. Simply multiply 22.4 ( .5 x 35) by -40 to get the answer. You can remember this by the acronym PEMDAS. This is the order in which you do the problem (also known as "order of operations) P=Parenthesis E=Exponents M=Multiplication D=Division A=Addition S=Subtraction So, you do whatever is in the parenthesis first, take care of the exponents second, then do the multiplication and so on.

Question:-

-40 (1/2*45)

Solution:-

This problem is really easy. We use BODMAS to solve problems.

BODMAS shows the step by step procedure;

• Brackets Of
• Division
• Multiplication
• Subtraction

Now back to the solution of the question:-

-40 (1/2*45)

= -40 (22.5)

= - 900

Hence the answer is -900

-40(1/2 x 45)

The rule of BODMAS (Brackets Of Division Multiplication Addition Subtraction) or in other words PEMDAS, is applied to it.

-40(1/2 x 45)         (first solve the part within the brackets)

-40(22.5)               (then multiply the remaining ones)

-900                      (sign of the higher number is taken in this case minus)

-40(1/2 x 45)= ? In this type of question the order of operation is a must some may call it PEMDAS.

In order to find the answer you would  simply multiply 45 by 1/2 which will get you 22.5

(1/2 x 45)= 22.5

Then you would take the 22.5 and multiply it by -40 and you will get your answer

-40(22.5) = -900

-40(1/2 x 45)=

-40(22.5)=                  Multiply the 45 by 1/2 (also called divide 45 by 2)

-900                           Multiply the -40*22.5

-40(1/2 x 45)=

Remember to follow the order of Pemdas for math problems like this

Parentheses

Exponents

Multipication

Division

Subtraction

So first by following PEMDAS ,  multiply 1/2 with 45 which gives you 22.5 . Now multiply 22 .5 with -40 , giving you -900

So the answer for this equation is -900

-40 (1/2 x 45) =

Recall that in multiplication, the order does not matter. What you have here is:

`-40 xx (1)/(2) xx 45`

Do the first part because its easier and you will get :

`-20 xx 45`

Now, its a simple multiplication that gets you :

-900

-40(1/2 x 45)   use p.e.m.d.a.s parentheses first

1/2 x 45 = 22.5

-40(22.5)= -900

-900

-40(1/2 x 45)

Step 1: remeber BEDMAS, B goes first, so do everything in bracket first.

= -40(22.5)

Step 2: now you have to multiply (when theres brackets and no equatio sighs, it means multiply)

= -40 x 22.5

Step 3: negative x positive = negative, so -40 x 22.5 = -900

so -40(1/2 x 45)

= -900

To solve this equation, we use the PEDMAS method:

First, solve the multipication inside the brackets, using the P (stands for parenthesis) in PEDMAS. (1/2*45)= 22.5

Next, do the multipication of the number outside and inside the bracket. using M (multipication). -40(22.5)=-40*22.5 which equals to negative 900. Follow the order of operations and remember to solve what is inside the brackets first before solving the entire equation.

Remember do division or multiplication before doing attraction and subtraction in equation.

STEP 1: Multiply the number before (), meaning "-40" with the first factor between paranthesis, like this:

(-40x1/2) x 45

STEP 2: Multiply the result of paranthesis, taking account of sign "-", from the first result, like this:

(-20) x  45 =-900

A lot of my students are not comfortable turning fractions into decimals.  For students who want to avoid decimals, look below. With this problem I would have them convert 45 into a fraction by putting a one in as the denominator

Step One-change 45 into a fraction: -40 (1/2x45/1)

Step two: multiply the fractions within the (  )

-40 (45/2)

Step 3: Convert -40 into a fraction

-40/1 (45/2)

Step 4: Simplify  fractions (2 goes into -40, -20 times)

-20/1 (45/1)

Step 5: Multiply and a - times a + = a negative

= -900

-900

1/2 of 45 is 22.5

22.5 x -40 = -900.

-40(1/2 x 45)=?

Remember your PEMDAS rules. PEMDAS stands for Parentheses, Exponent, Multiplication, Division, Addition, and Subtraction. Because there are parentheses around 1/2 * 45, multiply that first.

-40(22.5)

Now you can multiply -40 and 22.5, which gives you an answer of -9,000.
