Number 1 is an algebric equasion which means you isolate the varible.  What you do to one side you must do to the other.  You begin by adding +4 1/4 to each side.  Then you divide 12 1/4 by 5 1/2.  Your answer will be X = 16 1/28.

 #2)  same process with the answer 5 1/8

#3) you must find the common denominator and then subtract the whole number and then subtract the numerator and place the answer over the denominator and reduce.  The answer should come out to 9 21/28

22/4 n = 66/4

n= 3

2) 13/8n = 13/2

n= 4

3) n= 16 1/28 + 7 1/4

=  23  2/7
