According to the myth of Prometheus, the mortals who inhabited dark caves were the first benefactors of fire. Prometheus also gave mankind virtually everything needed to create and become a civilization: the knowledge to produce food, medicine, sail, understand astrology, use an alphabet for communication, create and appreciate artwork, and more. Prometheus's gifts spurred a burst in creativity and cultural literacy among mere mortals who had previously been primitive and unsophisticated cave dwellers.
