What do you know about Theodore Maiman perfectimg the laser in 1961?

    Hmm. I would say that Maiman didn't perfect the laser in 1961. I'm not trying to be picky. His achievements were great. In 1960, he developed the first laser. He started the Korad Corporation soon after that, to further develop the laser, and, Maiman Associates (1968) and was co-founder of the Laser Video Corporation (1972). In all of these cases, he was working to further develop the laser, and, especially, to work out its possibilities for peaceful application. (He didn't consider it perfected.) As for the initial development, he did so for Hughes Aircraft Company.
