Chandragupta Maurya the king who founded Maurya dynasty and was grandfather of famous king Ashoka, mad Pataliputra his capital in third century B.C.. After that it remained capital of many kings and dynasties for many centuries.
Mohanjodaro, is a site of much older civilization on the banks of river Sindu. This site is located in Pakistan. Mohanjodaro is actually one of many such sites which are spread over large parts of central and western India. Many experts believe that Mohanjodaro represents a period in a common civilization that originated more then 10.000 years back in the region of Mehrgarh in Baluchistan region of Pakistan and gradually moved towards east and south, with the last of their known settlement being in Central India and in Dholvaria in Gujarat, India.
