   I can't write your essay on it but I can tell you that both events showed how weak and out of touch the Czar's government really was and how ill-prepared they were for war. The Russian people were absolutely sure that they could win a war against the tiny country of Japan. However, the modern Japanese army easily won victory after victory against Russia. The Russians were forced to capitulate and were deeply embarrassed by their losses. In 1905, industrial workers and peasants, fed up with poor wages and working conditions tried to overthrow Nicholas II. They were quickly brought down by violent tactics and the czar reacted by trying to take away freedoms and instituting harsh reprisals. This only made the lower classes hate the czar even more and showed the world that the czar was really out of touch with his people. The final blow to the Czar came when World War I broke out. Russia sent its troops to battle for the Allies and once again, those troops were defeated in bloody battle after bloody battle. This caused people to lose complete confidence in the czar, who at one point had taken personal command of the troops. This allowed the Bolsheviks to consolidate enough power to overthrow the czar and pull Russia out of World War I. Eventually, the czar was executed and Russia came under Communist rule.
