What grade would you give Roosevelt, Taft and Wilson on conservation, tariffs, changes they made to government and trust-busting and control of big business? I think that grading the presidents in this manner might have to involve a bit more of clarification. Perhaps being able to amplify the answer would help: 1) Are we grading the Presidents' efforts on their effects at the time or relevancy in the modern setting? 2) Are we grading the Presidents' on their efforts intent or effectiveness? 3) When we are examining the changes made to government, are we doing so in terms of change for change sake, or are we analyzing it in terms of the ability to have responded to some element that required change? Some ideas along these lines may help in being able to offer up effective assessment of these Presidents' actions. Posted by akannan on Oct 9, 2009. |

You also have to qualify terms such as conservation, and big business. Do you simply mean by the number of areas set aside as federal parks, or do you mean recycling processes? As for big business, is it simply just a matter of not allowing any monopoly or if a company expands then its influence is cut? Posted by epollock on Oct 9, 2009. |
