Why do Jews, Christians, and Muslims all claim Palestine as their Holy Land?

Three major religions—Judaism, Christianity, and Islam—claim Palestine as their Holy Land because this area in the Middle East (in southwest Asia, at the eastern end of the Mediterranean Sea) was the site of significant events in each of these religion's history. For Jews (followers of Judaism), the Holy Land is the place where Moses (a Hebrew lawgiver) took the Israelites (Jews) after he led them out of slavery in Egypt in the thirteenth century B.C. The modern state of Israel in Palestine was established as the homeland of the Jews in 1948. For Christians, Palestine is the place where Jesus of Nazareth, the founder of Christianity (c. 6 B.C.–A.D. 30; also called the Christ) was born, lived, and died.
