Azaria Chamberlain was a nine-week-old infant who disappeared in 1980 from her family's campsite at Ayers Rock National Park in Australia. At first authorities thought dingoes (wild dogs) had snatched her, but eventually her parents faced charges of murder in one of the most sensational trials in Australian history. According to the Chamberlains' story, Azaria was sleeping in the family's car as her mother, Alice Lynne (Lindy); her father Michael; and her brothers, six-year-old Aidan and four-year-old Reagan cooked a barbecue dinner. Suddenly Lindy heard a baby's cry and rushed to the car, where she was joined by a neighbor from a nearby campsite.
