Eras and Their Highlights | What Was The Prehistoric Era?

What was the prehistoric era?

The prehistoric era was the period of time before humans had begun to record events in writing. Dating from about 2,000,000 years B.C. to about 6000 B.C. the prehistoric era is divided into several periods: the Stone Age (c. 2,000,000–c. 3500 B.C.), the Bronze Age (3500–2500 B.C.), and the Iron Age (1500–1000 B.C.). Despite the lack of written records, archaeologists (scientists who study the remains of ancient peoples) have gathered information about prehistoric times from artifacts, cave paintings, and skeletons.
