What is e-commerce?

The term e-commerce refers to business that is conducted with the help of electronic technology. Such technology includes telephone and cable lines, satellite-facilitated communications, Internet websites, e-mail, and corporate computer networks. An example of e-commerce is using computers to place orders with suppliers, bill customers, ship goods, and track inventory.
