    Because it was written by Hemingway, no.  Hemingway was masterful at his ability to empathize with both male and female characters, in my opinion.  In addition, his perspective was believable, allowing the reader to accept the characters and what they said and did and how they reacted to events in the story.  It takes a very special author to be able to portray characters of the opposite sex in believable, intimate ways.
