Herman Melville is best known for his novels, which include Moby Dick: Or, The Whale (1851), The Confidence Man: His Masquerade (1857), and Billy Budd, Foretopman (1924). During his lifetime he also published a collection of short stories and sketches titled The Piazza Tales (1856), as well as ten other short stories in various popular magazines.
