Posted by lynn30k on Thursday June 11, 2009 at 1:34 PMThe more physically fit you are, the less likely you are to develop various diseases. There are no guarantees, but you can greatly increase your chances of living a healthy, active life if you follow some simple guidelines:
Don't smoke. Not only does smoking cause lung cancer, but it is implicated in various other diseases, in particular heart disease and stroke.
Eat a healthy diet. Eat a lot of vegetables and fruit, whole grains and healthy (unsaturated) fats.
Get exercise.
If you live a physically fit lifestyle, you may or may not live a longer time, but you will definitely have more fun in whatever years you do have. Think about it--the age of 50 may sound like so far off you don't have to worry about it, but the choices you make now determine whether you are going to be athletic and active then, or taking a lot of medicines, feeling lousy, and spending a lot of time at the doctor.

Just as depression, or an illness can affect an animal's physical well-being, not being in the best physical shape can affect all the systems of the body. To eat properly, keep the BMI and weight at an ideal level will make any stress more tolerable for the body of systems. Physical fitness will make everything in life easier; it will improve ones quality of life, job performance, and everything one undertakes in life.
