Health | Vitamin Supplements Are Usually Unnecessary
Colin Brennan argues in the following viewpoint that most people who eat a balanced diet do not need to take vitamin supplements. He contends that for most people, eating a lot of fruits and vegetables will provide all the vitamins and minerals necessary to maintain good health. Moreover, he maintains, whole foods provide nutrients that cannot be made into pills, such as phytochemicals. According to Brennan, only people with special needs, such as dieters and athletes, require the added vitamins and minerals found in supplements. Brennan is a medical journalist in London, England.
