Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban | Chapter 15 Summary
Chapter Fifteen: The Quidditch Final
Hagrid is beside himself about the verdict regarding Buckbeak. Malfoy begins making fun of Hagrid and Hermione both insults and slaps Malfoy, putting her on the up-and-up with Harry and Ron. Hermione, however, seems extra haggard and overwrought with the stress of going to all of her classes. The three set off for Divination class. Hermione gets exasperated while throwing insults back and forth between herself and Professor Trelawney. Hermione ends up excusing herself from the class permanently, proving Trelawney’s former prediction to be true. Around Easter, one of their own did leave them forever. It was Hermione who stormed out of class in a huff. Meanwhile, Buckbeak’s execution looms ever closer as does the Quidditch final. Harry looks out upon the grounds one evening only to see the Grim again. Again, the shaggy black dog is watching him. At the Quidditch final, the Gryffindor team needs to defeat the Slytherin team to win. As usual, the Slytherins are playing a dirty game, enraged that the Gryffindors have taken an early lead. The commentator, Lee Jordan, seems to be advertising Harry’s new broom more than he is giving commentary on the match. With the help of Harry’s fast, new Firebolt broom, Harry grabs the golden snitch out from under Malfoy’s nose to secure the Gryffindor team win. Hagrid feels as though the news would even lift the condemned Buckbeak’s spirits. At that moment, when Harry was lifted onto the shoulders of his teammates, “Harry felt he could have produced the world’s best Patronus.”
