The wizardry and the fact that the kids, despite their magical talents, experience the same headaches as adolescents all over make the subject matter quite appealing. It is a fantasy world that we all are drawn to...why else have witch and fairy costumes been so well sold during Halloween? The idea of being able to wave a magic wand and have things happen is enticing and wonderful--as long as the power is used for good. Books like the Chronicles of Narnia, The Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Alice in Wonderland and others like it will always hold a dear spot in most children's hearts for this aura of wonder and magic.
