The Larson Farm lies eight miles from the nearest town down a dirt road, on about a half square mile of cleared land.  Straight along the end of one edge of the land is a long driveway bordered by a fence, at the end of which is the farmhouse, an old but well-kept building of two stories.  The house has few modern amenities and no electricity, and the women use a wood-burning stove to cook.  Leading from the house is a narrow path about fifty yards long which leads to the barn. In addition to sheltering the cows and horses, the barn opens into a milking room and a separating room. Attached to the barn are the pigpens, and along the path to the barn is the granary, with the chicken coops and parking area for the farm equipment behind it.  The rest of the land is open fields planted in corn and small grains, and along the far end of the farm a small creek meanders in and out in s-shaped curves.
