What is life like on campus? Does a lot of social activity take place on campus? Are there a lot of campus activities? How is campus dining? Posted by enotes on Aug 28, 2008. |

Unless you have a car, you're pretty much restricted to campus unless you can figure out the bus system. At first the bus system is really confusing, but after a couple weeks it's easy to understand and use to get to the other colleges or go into Northampton and Amherst. There are always a lot of events happening on campus - from the weekly poetry slams to bicycle powered music to talks by Thai monks. Because there are no fraternities or sororities on Hampshire's campus, parties are limited to small gatherings in the lounges in the dorms or to the upperclassmen apartments. Campus dining is somewhat annoying because the general dining hall closes at 7 PM. If you want to catch a late dinner you either have to use part of your 75 hampshire dollars allotted each semester at the Bridge Cafe or go into town to eat. There are also some places that deliver to campus if you're in the mood for take-out chinese, pizza, or paninis. The vegan and vegetarian food in the main dining hall, SAGA, is actually much better than the meat options. There's always fresh salad and sandwiches you can make as well as a stir-fry station and cereal bar. So there are a lot of options. Posted by norabb90 on Sep 30, 2008. |
