What does  " local colour" mean in Hamlet?

    Since the play was set in Denmark, Shakespeare's choice of Wittenburg for Hamlet's university was appropriate.  Wittenburg was a university favored by Danish students. 

    Additionally, WS added a bit of English "local colour" in his discussion of "aerie of children" with Horatio.  English theatre was being overrun by child actors at the turn of the seventeenth century, putting many of Shakespeare's contemporaries out of work.
