This is in Act II, Scene i when Ophelia tells Polonius that Hamlet has basically accosted her. He came in, unkempt and dirty, and grabbed Ophelia, holding her, but not speaking to her. The look on his face is so disturbing to Ophelia, describing Hamlet as looking as if he had just come from hell to tell her of the terrible things that had happened to her. It is from this news that Polonius decides that Hamlet is lovesick for Ophelia, and he wants her to go with him to tell the king.
