Check out any number of sites with a research engine under "comic relief + hamlet." There you can glean ideas in a focused way on pertinent information for your subject. Try to have at least three main points (if not more) backed up by supporting evidence (lines cited from the play as examples, then properly documented). You might want to begin or conclude with a more general scope, explaining why Shakespeare used comic scenes in his tragedies in the first place. I would approach it through the lens of verbal irony. Hamlet is actually quite funny when he wants to be. I would focus on 3 specific instances as they progress through the play and relate to Hamlet's mindset at that point in the play. Posted by shannonsuddath on Jan 28, 2009. |
