Posted by pohnpei397 on Tuesday November 10, 2009 at 6:05 PM- Wild foods become less available. Hunter-gatherers kill off too many large animals and that makes that lifestyle less sustainable.
- More wild plants that could be domesticated became available at about this same time.
- Technological advances allowed people to harvest and store greater quantities of food that they cultivated.
- Human populations rise. It's not clear how much this caused food production and how much food production caused it, but researchers believe there's a connection. As populations rose, they needed to have better food supplies and started farming.
- The farm societies had larger populations and could drive out neighboring hunter-gatherers.
