Things I Wish I Knew Before Coming to Guilford

  • Go on Avanti as a first-year.

  • Get the most out of your personal opportunities.

  • Don’t overload yourself—balance your organizations, jobs, classes, and free time.

  • Spend sometime familiarizing yourself with the library.

  • Use the Academic Skills Center when and before you need them, and don’t be afraid or embarrassed to ask—that’s what they’re there for.

  • Use your RAs and hall directors; they can be very helpful and caring people.

  • You can get a new roommate or a new room if it’s absolutely necessary.

  • Conflict Resolution Center—(336) 316-2446

  • A good education means you’ll actually have to work—and be involved.
