Know the slang, know the school. The following is a list of things you really need to know before coming to Guilford. The more of these words you know, the better off you’ll be.

Programs preceding the academic year for incoming freshman; this is not required.
- The Bubble
The control/security center in Bauman
- CHOAS
The first year “get to know you” session/week that takes place in the Fall
- D21, A12, etc
Referring to suites in Bryan Hall dorm
- First-Year
The more commonly-used term to refer to a freshman
- Founders
Founders Hall, Student Center in general
- Frank
The Frank Family Science Center
- FYE
First-Year Experience, a required interdisciplinary course for all incoming students
- Golf Cart Brigade
Security’s main mode of transportation
- GuilCo
Short for Guilford College
- The Guilford Bubble
The idea that Guilford students get absorbed in campus life and don’t necessarily interact with the real world outside GuilCo
- Hobbits
Those who live in Mary Hobbs dorm
- ICC
Inner Club Council
- Info Desk
The Information Desk in Founders main floor lobby—(336) 316-2301
- The Meadows
The fields behind the student apartments
- QFS
Short for WQFS, 90.0FM, the college’s radio station
- The Quad
Referring to the open area in Bryan
- The Quaker dome
The Bryan Jr. Auditorium in Frank Family Science Center
- Yachters
Those involved in the Yachting Club—AKA: the gamers
