Nick couldn't get people to come to Gatsby's funeral because nearly all the people who Gatsby knew or who knew him were people who simply had used him to get something from him.  The people who came to his parties simply wanted a good time, free food, and free drink.  Klipspringer was just a mooch, a parasite, who lived with one rich host after another always sponging from them.  Wolfshiem said that he preferred to honor people when they were alive, but he couldn't afford to be too closely associated with a case that might bring him under legal scrutiny either since his living was made mostly illegally.  Daisy and Tom left the country in their usual irresponsible, uncaring way.  As long as Gatsby was alive and could give people something, those people were his "friends", but as soon as he died, he was nothing more than some poor schmuck whom nobody knew.

The reason why nick couldnt get anyone to come to Gatsby's funeral is because nick was pretty much the kid in the group that everyone used amd just took advantage of in everyway that they possible could. Also as long as Gatsby was alive and could give people something, those people were his friends, but as soon as he died, he was nothing more than some poor kid that nobody knew or wanted to know. And that is why Nick couldnt get nobody to come to his funeral.

I agree that the absence of people at Gatsby's funeral just demonstrates the superficiality and carelessness of the people around him. It underlines the way the "new rich" used eachother to get what they want. Everyone may come to his party, but no one will come to his funeral. I also believe that Gatsby represented the grandeur and extravagance that is associated with the time period, and it lended irony to the story because in the end, his funeral was so small and simple. His neighborhood was probably disillusioned withn the death of someone who was the epitomy of glamour and wealth. However, it is more likely that no one showed up because of their own selfish reasons, like Wolfsheim, or Daisy and Tom.

nick couldnt goe anybody to come to his funeral becouse gatsby himself never took the time to get to know the people who came to his parties. they only came for the free food, drinks, and the occasional rumor of gatsbys past life.
