First, they are careless when it comes to money. Expense is not mentioned, because it is not an issue. Money worries are not a problem, nor does "making" money come up much. The underlying attitude is that money will come on its own.
They are also careless of the feelings of others. Tom especially is seemingly heartless about the effect he has on others. He has no respect for the feelings of Daisy when he cheats on her with Myrtle, and Daisy does not seem to resent it to the point of making it a line in the sand. She doesn't like it, but it is what it is.
Finally, they are careless in the area of morality. They do what they want to do, right or wrong, good or bad. They live for themselves, and don't care who they have to use to accomplish the fulfillment of their desires.
