n Chapter 5, what emotions do Daisy and Gatsby feel at first?

When Gatsby and Daisy first meet again at Nick's house, Gatsby is very nervous and Daisy is shocked to see him. Nick remembers that when they first saw each other, both were completely silent for "half a minute." We can imagine their simply looking at each other and taking in what they see after five years. What they were feeling at that specific moment is also left to our imagination. Gatsby is so nervous he almost knocks the clock off the fireplace mantle. Moving beyond shock, Daisy is nervous and speaks with an "artificial note" in her voice. Nick thinks they were both embarrassed. They both remain tense as they have tea with Nick. What happens after Nick leaves, we don't know, but when he returns, Gatsby and Daisy both seem filled with joy.
