    Pip, in his new status as a gentleman, has become a snob.  He has not visited or stayed at Joe's house, preferring lodging in the inn.  Even when he is asked to return to the house following his sister's funeral, he insists he must go instead to Satis House and visit Miss Haversham.

    Biddy has always been a faithful friend of Pip's and has been hos sounding board for his hopes and dreams.  SHe is dismayed at the person Pip has become.
