How does Pip enlighten Jaggers and what does Pip demand from him in exchange in Chapter 51 of "Great Expectations"?

    Pip tells Jaggers that he knows the history of Estella, Miss Havisham's adopted child, and that he knows who her mother is.  He then reveals that he also knows who Estella's father is, a bit of information Jaggers himself is not aware of.  Intimating that his knowledge was received not from Wemmick but from Miss Havisham, Pip tells a stunned Jaggers that Estella's father is Provis.  He also says that Provis has no idea of his daughter's existence.

    In return for the enlightenment he has provided, Pip demands that Jaggers be "frank and manly" and "more open with (Pip)".  Pip wants Jaggers to at least affirm that what he has discovered is the truth.   Jaggers responds by putting before Pip a hypothetical situation in which Pip is provided with the affirmation he seeks without Jaggers admitting his part in what has transpired.  It is Jaggers's belief that what Pip has learned is better kept secret, and that there would be no merit to anyone should the truth be revealed (Chapter 51).
