    Miss Havisham's attitude to Pip is like that of a mistress to a paid servant. She had engaged Pip for a certain pupose- to amuse her and relieve her bodredom. Now that Pip has completed his job she terminates his services by paying  a sum of 25 guineas. She instructs Pip not to visit her again and Joe that he must not expect any more money from her.
