Every time we get background knowledge on family members--Caroline Beaufort, Elizabeth Lavenza, and Justine Moritz for example. We also get an example of exposition in this novel when we get the creature's explanation of how he spent the two years he was away from Victor and how he came to be a vengeful, hateful creature as opposed as the loving and gentile creature he was at "birth".
