Her beloved Hunca Bubba had told her when she was younger that he would marry her someday because she was so cute, and she took his remark as a promise. Now, however, he has found a woman he loves and is going to marry her instead. In her mind, Hazel relates her anger now to how she felt when she once went to a movie theater where one movie was promised and another was delivered, to her great disappointment. The conflict in the story is Hazel's inability to reconcile her own ideals of trust with the realities of the world.
