How do the religious views of Mrs Hopewell in "Good Country People" compare to those of the grandmother in "A Good Man is Hard to Find"?

    The views of Mrs. Hopewell from "Good Country People" and the grandmother in "A Good Man Is Hard to Find" toward religion are most likely similar, but the approach of the two women are somewhat different.  The grandmother appears to be less intelligent than Mrs. Hopewell and certainly shows childlike qualities that we do not see in Mrs. Hopewell.  Furthermore, Mrs. Hopewellmakes it abundantly clear to Manley Pointer that she thinks he be conning her.  The grandmother, however, is a much simpler character and falls for most anything that is presented to her.

    Both women have a religion of convenience, but the Grandmother seems to have less of an understanding of her faith than does Mrs. Hopewell.
