Sisters Laura and Lizzie live in the country, but the specific time and place are not important to the story. The mythical action could occur anywhere. Each morning and evening a group of goblin men passes through the glen calling, "Come buy, come buy." They are trying to sell incredibly enticing fruit that is apparently from a warm, pleasant, magical place far away.
