Why did the three Magi give Jesus the gifts they did?

 

My teacher asked this question for extra credit so i was just wondering who ever helps me thank you

    thats because that what they could gather the expensive one and thats all they have to bring to a king

    The Magi carefully chose gifts for the newborn King of the Jews which were valuable, rare and useful.  In the Old Testament it had been foretold that gold and incense would be brought as offerings to the Savior from Sheba:  "...all they from Sheba shall come: they shall bring gold and incense; and they shall show forth the praises of the Lord" (Isaiah 60:6).

    The gifts that the Magi chose to bring to the child Jesus have also served to signify, to untold generations, the purpose that Jesus came into the world.
