Traditions
- The Ramblin' Wreck Parade
Held the first Saturday of Homecoming weekend. Entries are in three categories: the contraption, the fixed-body, and the classic car.
- The Freshman Cake Race
The Race is also a big homecoming tradition at G-Tech. Students participate in a running race, and the winners are awarded a cake baked by the wives of the faculty members.
- The Mini 500
The Mini is a tricycle race held around Peters Parking Deck, and it is a multi-lapped event. It is held the Friday before the Homecoming game.
- Midnight Madness
During finals week, from 12 a.m. to 12:30 a.m. Every night, students emerge from all over campus and scream.
- RATS (Recently-Acquired Tech Students)
The RATS has been a long-standing tradition with the University. Incoming students have RAT caps, and there are rules for the upkeep of the hats. Freshman cheers are also a part of this tradition. Upperclassmen settle for the freshmen to wear their caps during football games, rather than the entire quarter, as was done in the past.
- Stealing the âTâ
It is a common practice for the giant T that spells out Tech on the Tech Towers to be stolen during a semester. However, the penalty is high for those who do so and get caught.
