Georgetown Urban Legends
The fifth floor of the Healy building is no longer accessible because the exorcism on which Georgetown alum William Peter Blatty based his novel and screenplay, The Exorcist, was performed there. Most often, the legend has the exorcism being performed by Fr. Thomas King, S.J. When asked whether there was any truth to the rumor that he had once performed an exorcism, he responded only, “why, do you need one?”
A network of underground tunnels connects Copley Crypt with several of the other old buildings on campus.
There is no Metro stop in Georgetown because Georgetown residents do not want “outsiders” invading their space.
