Things I Wish I Knew Before Coming to GW

The majority of students are from the East Coast.

Even if you avoid the “Freshman 15,” you can still gain the “Sophomore 15” or “Junior 15.”

Freshmen do not really have to sign up for early or late classes—the University tells you this so everyone will get a certain number of classes at good times. But you don't have to, so don't do it.

Try not to schedule a lot of morning classes because you will want to sleep late. Also, don't take Friday classes because Thursday is a party night. You may want to intern on Fridays.

The GW mail and package facility is really slow and messes up a lot, so if you can, send your packages and mail to your off-campus work address (if you have one). GW's e-mail system also has its share of problems.

Thurston Hall is the fun, party dorm. The Hall on Virginia Avenue is still fun but a little quieter. Don't live in any other freshman dorms.
