   29.22% of the earth's surface is land. 70.78%  of the earth's surface is liquid water. Most of the earth's water is salty or permanently frozen. Approximately 3% of the 70.78% of earth's surface is covered in fresh water.  Approximately 2% of earth's water is frozen in glaciers, but with global warming, this number may be inexact.
