Moyamoya is a progressive syndrome characterized by narrowing of the blood vessels in the brain. Moyamoya is the Japanese term for 'cloud of smoke drifting in the air.'

Description

The term moyamoya is used to describe how the arteries in the brain look in this syndrome, which was first described in the 1950s. There is no clear cause for this disease. It can be caused genetically, but can also occur as a result of having other diseases.
