    Candy and Mathu had an interesting relationship in Gathering of Old Men. Both want to protect each other, even though Candy is so much younger than Mathu. Mathu helped raise Candy, which is why he is protective of her, and vice versa. Candy and Mathu are both stubborn, well meaning people.
