Thus, the society that usually casts out those like Kira would most likely be considered the antagonist. Kira's neighbors, influenced by the society in which they live, treat her with hostility. The one small boy who takes pity on her is an exception, but for the most part, those who reject Kira, considered as a single entity, are the antagonist--the system that rejects those who are imperfect.
